Oat Bread

Ingredients

1/2 cup Oats

1 cup Hot water

1 cup All purpose flour/ Maida

1 cup Bread flour

1 tsp Instant dry yeast

1 tbsp Sugar

1 tsp Salt

1 Egg

3/4 cup Luke warm water

1 tbsp Oil

Directions

1Boil 1 cup water. Turn off the heat. Add oats. Cover it with a lid. Keep it aside for 30 minutes.Let it soak well.

2In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together except water. Add the prepared oats. Mix well.

3Now add luke warm water and knead for 9-10 minutes .

4Add 1 tbsp of oil. Knead for 3-4 minutes until the dough is shiny, smooth and elastic.

5Shape it into a ball. Place the dough into a well oiled bowl. Cover it with cling film. Let it rise.

6Let the dough double in volume.

7Now punch down the dough gently. Knead for a minute or two. Gently shape it into a loaf. Grease and dust a loaf tin. Place the dough into the prepared tin. Place the tin in a warm place.

8Meanwhile, Pre heat the oven at 180 degrees C.

9Place the tin into the oven. Bake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees C.

10Egg wash the crust and bake for 3-4 minutes until the crust is golden brown in colour. Remove the bread from the tin. Apply butter liberally. Allow the loaf to cool well before slicing.

Yes, apf can be used instead of bread flour.

Hello shano,
Was planning on baking this bread,but this recipe calls for bread flour and I don’t have the same. Is there any substitute to it or can I replace the bread flour with the same amount of APF.
